Do It Your Way

by Lauri

15 years ago, I was teaching a theatre class while trying to imitate my teacher Catherine Fitzmaurice’s teaching style to the best of my ability.

One student raised his hand and said, “What are we supposed to be getting out of this? Because of all my classes, this is the one where I’m not learning anything.”

Yup. I IMPLODED on the inside. Big time.

It would’ve been so easy for me to tell myself that I’d failed. That I had no business teaching. And to stop. Forever …

Here’s the thing: I had failed – at doing it Catherine’s way. Her way wasn’t working for me. I hadn’t yet tried doing it my way.

If you want to be an inspirational leader, you need to find your true inner power.

We can’t source our unique magic when we’re trying to copy someone else.

So, I BREATHED DEEP and took my first step – right there in front of everyone – at tapping into my true inner power. In that moment I started doing it MY WAY.

And THAT has made all the difference.

Where do you catch yourself imitating someone else’s style? What might happen if you tapped into your true inner power?

With passion & love,
