It’s Not What you say …

by Lauri

Most people believe that great public speaking is all about what you say, when the truth is, it’s about how you say it.

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous I have a dream speech.

You know the one …

So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed.

And now imagine that, instead of being spoken by Martin Luther King, Jr., those words are being spoken by Richard Nixon.

            Yup. Take THAT in.

The Richard Nixon version pales in comparison.

The moral of the story is not that Martin Luther King was the only person who ever had charisma.

It’s this:

It’s not just what you say, it’s also how you say it.

The “I have a dream” speech is an all-time great on both counts.

The words that Martin Luther King, Jr. said were amazing.

And even more important was the way Martin Luther King, Jr. said those words.

        The way he embodied them.

He was in complete alignment with his message.

You can do that, too.

We are all born with charisma.

The way to unleash your charisma is not:

✨ Imitating Martin Luther King, Jr.
✨ Doing it the way you think you “need” to do it
✨ Focusing only on the words you say
✨ Worrying about things like hand gestures or modulating pitch
✨ Spending hours-on-end adjusting your PowerPoint slides from the safety of your office chair

The  path to unleashing your one-of-a-kind charisma and allowing your soul’s voice to ring out clearly looks more like this:

✨Let go of trying to do it like “everyone else”
✨Allow your inner radiance to shine through
✨Come back home to yourself
✨Nurture your instrument (That’s you: body, mind, heart and soul)

You are a unique and beautiful soul. Your voice is needed in the world.

With passion & love,

PS: If this speaks to your soul, book a breakthrough session. It would be my honor to hold space as you allow your inner radiance to shine through.
