transform panic into purpose

by Lauri

“I feel like we just went from my Heaven to my Hell!”

Twelve and a half years ago, during my leadership training program, I spoke those dramatic words.

We were unpacking an exercise that had triggered a lot of sensation, emotion, and energy for me.

I would not have ended the exercise the way the leaders did.

One leader replied, “Lauri, the definition of suffering is wanting things to be other than what they are.”

I thought, “Why is he spouting this trite bullshit at me right now? Can’t he see this is important to me?!”

He repeated, “Lauri, the definition of suffering is wanting things to be other than what they are.”

Then the other leader said, “Besides, isn’t that thing you want YOUR life purpose.”

My inner teenager, inner protectors, and soul suckers went on to have a 12-hour pity PARTY in my head!!!

(They told me he was a fraud. They told me to get what I could of my money back, but to stay through the end of the weekend. I’d show them!)

Finally, 12 hours later, the voice of wisdom within me whispered, “Lauri, there’s a difference between resisting what is, and accepting what is while moving forward to create change.”

Resisting what is creates suffering.
Accepting what is, while moving forward to create change, is Leadership.

It’s both a subtle and profound distinction.

Today is election day in the United States.

This one’s a doozy. It’s creating a ripple effect out into the rest of the world.

To help us all shift from chaos to calm, from suffering to serenity, from panic to purpose, I’m sharing a soulful speaking ground-spansion meditation experience for this week’s Soulful Speaking mini-sode.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

I hope it helps you.
