When I was about 19 years old, the drama department Voice Teacher, Liz Carlin, blurted a nugget of wisdom that I’ve never forgotten:

“Vulnerability is power.”

At the time I didn’t understand it, yet it stuck with me. While my mind didn’t understand, my soul knew it to be true.

Vulnerability is power.

At first, my mind couldn’t make sense of it, because vulnerability isn’t that dominating, aggressive power that we were all raised on.

And yet –

Vulnerability is power.

It’s an open-hearted, radiating, love-infused power. An intimate power. An aligned power.
