The Unexpected Ways Theatre Changed My Life

by Lauri

It’s 1947. Three actors form a group that ends up forever changing the art of acting worldwide.

By creating a sacred, private space, actors could freely explore and deepen the craft of acting. They were more able to express the truth onstage in the moment. To hold a mirror up to life that would touch audiences’ hearts.

I’ve been an actor since the age of seven. In my late twenties and early thirties, I studied in a similarly safe and private space: The Seydways Acting Studio in San Francisco.

My experience in the safety of that space forever changed my acting, my leadership, and my life.

It was the catalyst that unleashed my creativity, my talent, and my voice. Like fire meeting ice, decades-old layers of protection melted away.

I was SEEN. I was HELD. I was FREE.

I believe that change-makers who speak both need and deserve that kind of supportive, sacred space.

We need that safe space in order to remove our protective masks, unleash our inner radiance, and do our part to change the world with authenticity, creativity, and courage.

Over the years, clients asked me again and again where they could go to practice speaking authentically. I looked around for that kind of sacred space for change-makers and found it didn’t exist …

So I built it.
